5 Simple and Meaningful Mother's Day Ideas

Happy Mother's Day! Today, we honour our mothers, grandmothers, and the mother figures in our lives. If you're stuck at the last minute for things to do with your mother today, we put together a list of 5 ideas that are simple to do yet very impactful. After all, the best give you can give anyone, especially your mother, is the gift of your time.

  1. Make her a card, or if you’re not creative, write her a letter
Find beautiful paper at your local art supply or stationery store, and while you’re there pick up a nice pen. And yes, you can even dig out your crayons.

  2. Cook her breakfast or brunch
Head to your local bakery and pick up her favourite pastries. In Edmonton, the Italian Centre stocks delicious locally made bacon and gelato.

  3. Go to the park
Our favourite parks in Edmonton include: MacKinnon Ravine, Millcreek Ravine, Goldbar Park, Hawrelak Park, Borden Park, and the Legislature.

  4. Take her out for tea and ask her about her life
Who was her first love? Where was she born? What are her dreams for the future? What is she passionate about? If time and money were no object what would she do with her life?

  5. Give her the gift of your time
Help her with some chores. Offer to wash her car, clean her house, or weed the garden.
